Rising Up – Arm Balances & Inversions Workshop

Because they are challenging and intimidating, arm balances and inversions are a way to grow our practice and take us to new territories we did not know existed. Notwithstanding, they are also a lot of fun!

However, the focus on this category of poses in a typical class is limited. These poses are not about how strong we are, but rather how connected we are at a physical level, from our fingertips all the way down to our legs and up to our neck. Indeed, arm balances and inversions require a subtle and complex collaboration between different parts of the body other than our arms, which all can work together to rise us up to a new level – quite literally.

This 3-hour workshop will give you the opportunity to explore, learn, decompose and understand the nitty gritty of how arm balances and inversions actually work and can happen. We will learn and review some techniques and biomechanics around the hands, arms, hips and shoulders, and the interconnection between them. We will slowly and safely build up towards a playful, experimental, and invigorating practice geared towards fun arm balances and inversions, from simple to complex.

Whether you love or fear this category of poses, know them well or are completely new to them, the only requirement is your curiosity and willingness to get on your hands and discover new edges and horizons in your practice. Be prepared to play and rise your energy and confidence up to new levels!
