Bending for the Heart – Safer and Deeper into backbends
November 21 @ 2:00 pm400dkk
Backbends, shoulder- and chest-opening poses are a powerful part of a yoga asana practice, known for their enlivening, mood-enhancing and feel-great virtues.
Yet working with this part of the body can be tricky because shoulders are a complex area, easily prone to injuries, hypermobility, or great tightness. Beyond the physical aspect, the shoulders and chest are also associated with what yoga calls the Heart, “hridaya,” a central place within us that can connect us to our deeper self and to others in a natural way, and where joy for no reason can arise.
This workshop is a deep focus into back-bending poses, the complexity of alignment in the upper body, chest, and shoulders, and intends to help you learn and refine alignment techniques that create more stability, safety, and space in the shoulders. In addition to the physical part, this workshop will also cover some easily relatable teachings, meditation and inquiry techniques to help you open and nourish the Heart at a subtler yet more integrated level.
Whether you love backbends, are looking for new inspiration for your practice, seek to refine your experience and understanding of safe alignment and therapeutical approach to backbends, and/or want to explore the yogic Heart at multiple levels this workshop is for you!
This workshop is best suitable for you with a min. of 2-3 months of practice. We will work therapeutically, so you are also welcome if you work with a shoulder challenge or injury.
