Coming Back to Presence – Meditation workshop

Meditation Workshop at the Yoga Flat
Cédric Gorinas
Oct 5th, 2025
Vesterbro, 12.30-16.00
« Yogas Citta Vrtti Nirodha – Yoga Sutra Pantajali, Sutra 1.2. »
Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.
Yoga or meditation is the practice of returning to oneself and the undisturbed, stable presence within. However, coming back to presence and the practice itself represent both the greatest gifts and the biggest challenge on the yoga path.
Why is meditation so difficult to do and keep doing?
Thousands of years ago, yogic sages also wrote about the mind’s (citta) tendency to keep busy and move away from the here and now. The mind is pure and transparent in nature, but as we identify with our thoughts and emotions, the mind keeps drifting off. Yogis developed the technique we today call meditation to train the mind in bringing attention back to the moment and, for this to happen, dealing with the main obstacles to a pure mind.
As one returns to presence, the mind quiets and the power of mindfulness starts to reveal itself. This is the process of self-recognition where the mind detaches from everyday thoughts and emotions (moksa) and reidentifies to the deeper presence within; awareness itself (purusha).
In this meditation workshop, you will have the opportunity to practice meditation from different perspectives and return to a state of deep presence and purer forms of the citta.
Concretely, through a mix of philosophy and practice, we will explore various techniques to meditate and: (i) deal with and calm thoughts, sensations, and feelings; (ii) increase concentration and clarity; and (iii) return to a quality of essence within yourself. In addition, we will investigate common obstacles to meditation and talk about starting or refining a stable, regular home practice.
After the session, you will have access to audio recordings and a summarizing handout to help your integration and perhaps own home practice.
Although we will include some simple stretch and movement, note that the main aspect of the workshop will be sitting meditation. Experience with meditation is recommended but not strictly necessary. Most important is your willingness to turn inside and explore what the practice might have in store for you.
In short, you can expect:
- Meditation practice and techniques inspired by classical yoga, nondual philosophy, and more modern mindfulness;
- Approaches to deal with common obstacles to keeping a regular practice, calm thoughts, and increase concentration;
- Different perspectives to touch the heart-mind’s underlying quality of pure presence;
- Inspiration from ancient wisdom to enrich your daily life and personal growth.

Your guide, Cédric
I have studied and practiced alignment-based and heart-centered yoga for over 15 years. To me, teaching and practicing yoga is an exploration of discovering what it truly means to be human. I am passionate about the connection between the body, the heart, and the mind, and I always teach yoga and meditation connecting these three together. Relating my physical body with my emotional, mental, and spiritual self is something I work with every day, both professionally and personally.
Beyond yoga, meditation, and eastern philosophy, I am trained in somatic and mindfulness-based psychotherapy (Hakomi), integrative bodywork (Esalen Massage), anatomy, and therapeutic forms of expressive movement. My intention is to share the world of yoga as a path of inner transformation and empowerment.
